Tune in Tokyo announces our final event at 2nd Street Jazz on Saturday, January 26th, featuring special guests Apocalipstick, Stephanie Yanez, SouLandscape, Psycho Bando, Midnight Shinigami and Lolita Dark. Join us for a celebration of 2nd Street’s ten amazing years as the premiere venue for live music in Little Tokyo! We’re welcoming back some of our favorite acts for a night of Asian-American and Indie rock, punk and global dance, as we say goodbye to the live house where Tune in Tokyo began.

Like a stiletto to the head, Apocalipstick knocks you out with their face-melting powerpop! About Joyce Lee & The Killing Shoes
Being raised strictly on classical music, Joyce Lee never realized what she was missing from her life until the day her best friend played a punk rock album for her. As soon as that music hit her ears, a light bulb went off in her soul and she knew what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. After moving to LA, Joyce met up with drummer, Wrecks and guitarist Brian Christopher who came from the same punk rock background and through their common bond, the three formed a shared vision in “Joyce Lee and the Killing Shoes” - a gritty, sexy and quirky modern rock n’ roll band infused with the vintage 70’s influences they love. Stephanie Yanez is an American Jpop singer, Virtual Idol of Japanese anime avatar site TinierMe.com, and Anime Expo’s AX Idol. She has toured all over the States and in Japan. She has been seen on T.V. as the Tokyo Reporter for Anime Select’s Comcast On Demand documentary “Crazy Sexy Tokyo”. Tune in Tokyo presents OTSUKARE-SAMA, ROYAL/T!, our Grand Finale Event at the Akihabara-inspired Maid Cafe, Shop and Artspace on Friday, June 15th! As Royal/T prepares to close its doors later this summer, we want to invite all our friends back for one last big party, celebrating the amazing maid cafe that’s been a centerpiece of the Japanese fashion community and J-Pop scene over the last five years.

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 14, 2012) — Tune in Tokyo , L.A.’s first monthly J-Pop event, presented HARAJUKU HOLIDAY on February 22, 2012. Held at the world-famous Royal/T Café, Shop & Artspace, HARAJUKU HOLIDAY featured May J. and Joe Inoue, hosts of NHK World’s “J-MELO” English-language music show as part of a Lolita Fashion Showcase and J-Pop Dance Party.
May J. (Avex Records / Rhythm Zone) and Joe Inoue (Ki/oon Records) appeared at Tune in Tokyo’s February event to shoot a special episode focusing on Los Angeles. The world-famous recording artists treated attendees to live performances, met with fans, and participated as special guest judges in Tune in Tokyo’s Lolita Fashion Contest, choosing the most “fashion forward” Lolita! The special episode of “J-MELO” featuring Tune in Tokyo is set to air in early April 2012.
