Hello Everyone,
Tune in Tokyo is busy at work preparing for 2012! We’ll be back in full swing in February. In the meantime, we’ve got some cool stuff going on during the month of January, and I’ll also talk about what we were up to at the end of the year!
On December 30th, Tune in Tokyo hosted a cosplay screening for the first U.S. theatrical release of “Battle Royale” at the Cinefamily Silent Movie Theater! This is one of our favorites, and it was awesome to see it on the big screen! Many attendees came out in fantastic BR cosplay, and there was a contest hosted by FEARnet, with a cool prize package awarded to the best cosplayer!

I dropped a mini-set before the film as well. Here’s my setlist:
Destroy All Monsters - Ultraflesh
Kittenish Kitchen - AMU
Endless Night - Halcali
575 - Perfume
Tsukema Tsukeru - Kyary Pamyu Pamyu
109 (Marukyu) - AKB48
Joken Hansha - Nakamori Akina
The Great Escape - Girls Generation
Tsuki no Uragawa - DiVA
Resonant Blue - Morning Musume
Ultimate Miku World - Stephanie Yanez and Hatsune Miku
Then, on December 31st, we threw a New Year’s Eve show at 2nd Street Jazz in Little Tokyo, featuring INA-ZUMA, Violent Vickie, Pablo Furama, Insuu Bunkai, Sayuri Elsie, and Drift the Dean!

This Saturday, join me, Tune in Tokyo’s DJ Del, Tommy Pedrini of Cats on Mars, and reporter and web journalist Liz Ohanesian (LA Weekly) for a panel on Shibuya-Kei and Japanese Indie at Anime Los Angeles!
We’ll be participating in a benefit to aid Thailand flood relief at Q-Pop on Saturday, January 14th featuring awesome Thai pop and Indie with special guest DJs Chris and Miki!
